Shepherd’s Pantry is more than just an idea–it’s a community of amazing volunteers and staff working together to lend hope and a helping hand to those in need. Recently, we have been blessed with a new addition to our family, Ms. Anna Sepulveda. After hearing about Shepherd’s Pantry from a friend, Anna began volunteering in the food department, stocking shelves and loading carts with food to feed our clients. She quickly became hooked and knew she wanted to do more, leading her to apply for our Glendora Pantry Assistant staff position.
Anna is a native of Los Angeles County who earned an AA in General Education from East Los Angeles College and studied Anthropology at Cal State Los Angeles. Throughout her college career, Anna worked at the Los Angeles Superior Court, learning to be a legal secretary. From there, she worked as an Office Manager at a Los Angeles Law Firm. Despite her busy life, Anna has always found time to give back to her community. She’s worked as the Cookie Manager for the West Covina Girl Scouts Troops and volunteered on her daughter’s many sports teams. She’s worked with her brother at the Special Olympics and serves as the head coach of Bowling and Bocce for San Gabriel Valley. Family is very important to Anna; her free time is spent with them, whether playing board games, riding bikes, throwing frisbees at the beach, or cheering on the Dodgers!
Anna looks forward to working with and learning from all the volunteers. Although she is a recent addition to our family, Anna “has nothing but respect and admiration for the Board, the staff, and volunteers who are assisting [her] in this new role.” After only three weeks in this new position, Anna has found her rhythm and become an essential team member. After a long night of serving over three hundred and fifty clients, Anna had only one thing to say: “it’s pretty clear that the backbone of Shepherd’s Pantry are the volunteers. It’s been an amazing experience meeting all the many longstanding volunteers as well as the new volunteers each and every day. Their hard work and dedication, as well as the smiles on the clients’ faces as they receive donated food and clothing, are the reason I have a huge smile on my face as I’m driving home each day!” So, the next time you visit Shepherd’s Pantry Glendora, give Anna a warm welcome!
