A Note to Our Volunteers:
With over two thousand volunteers, Shepherd’s Pantry depends on the time and kindness of people like you to remain operational. We depend on you to answer the never-quiet phone, direct never-ending traffic, deliver food, cut hair, and pick out clothing. We depend on you to sort donations, collect data, process records, and organize events. We depend on you to be Shepherd’s Pantry.
Because of you, 91,000+ people received food and 12,000+ people received clothing in the last year. It takes incredible effort, and the 50,000+ hours volunteers have reported are surely underestimated. Your hard work and determination do not go unnoticed, and from the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you.
“To our amazing Shepherd’s Pantry family,
Happy Valentine’s Day! We are overflowing with gratitude for your dedication and compassion. You truly embody the spirit of love and giving, and we couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you for being the heart of Shepherd’s Pantry.”
– Jhoana Hirasuna (Executive Director)
“When I was asked to express my thoughts for our Shepherd’s Pantry volunteers, I was delighted at such an easy request – I have a heartfelt appreciation for them! Our very important work depends on our volunteer base, as without them we could not be successful at providing the many services we offer to our surrounding communities. I have worked shoulder-to- shoulder with many of our volunteers in the clothing and food distribution intake areas over the last five years. Those that I have not worked directly with also show a genuine love for the Lord and the work we are doing. I find them all to be very kind and giving, always keeping in mind the Lord’s plan for Shepherd’s Pantry to help those in need. Shepherd’s Pantry and its volunteers have given me a wonderful sense of personal fulfillment as a volunteer and a board member.”
– Nancy Bonds (Board Treasurer)
“Our Irwindale volunteers are extremely compassionate about their role as volunteers. They put the client First when it comes to what the needs are of the client. They will go above & beyond to ensure that they have done everything possible to fulfill the needs of the client.”
– Penny Pitts (Irwindale Site Manager)
“Hello and good afternoon.
I wanted to take the time to thank you ALL for assisting me today. I didn’t know what to say as I was leaving. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I felt that I need to express that in writing for you all. It has been a struggle for us. It is truly a blessing to have sure great people in place such as yourselves. Desiree was telling me all the things you all have available and I was left speechless and almost in tears because God is good and led me to you all because he knows ours needs. Thank you so much!!”
– A Shepherd’s Pantry Client (2025)
For all the love that you have poured into this organization, you have our deepest appreciation. We look forward to continuing this journey together.
Happy Valentine’s Day! <3
