Mission Statement:

The Mission of this organization is twofold:

1) Provide emergency food, resource assistance and emotional support in time of crisis to needy families primarily in  the local communities of Azusa, Covina, Glendora, La Verne & San Dimas - California

2) Provide the necessary tools and resources to help these families become self sufficient.

Our History

In late 2003, Shepherd's Pantry began as a free food delivery service to residents in Glendora, CA and surrounding communities. It  began with a

small group of volunteers delivering non-perishable food on Wednesday evenings. Food donations were kept in a local storage unit until ready for delivery once per week. Because of the growth experienced during first year, a second food storage unit was added in late 2004.

By mid 2005, the decision was made to search for a facility in Glendora, CA to expand our service to include walk-in food service. A suitable facility was located in late 2005 and the doors were opened to the public on April 12, 2006. The number of de-liveries and people served has increased by 100% since the April 12th opening. In addition to serving food, we also counsel with clients to determine other types of services they may need. We may not have the immediate answer they are looking for, but we do have access to other resources that may provide the solution they need.

Our Testimony

The people who utilize our services come from all walks of life. We all experience difficult times in our lives and sometimes we need a helping hand. More than 50% of the people we serve are experiencing a very temporary situation and just need a little help to get them through a rough time. Our volunteers genuinely love helping people and go out of their way to try to meet the needs of everyone we serve. The most rewarding part are the smiles and expressions of gratitude from those we serve.
